Alcoa says WA and CPRS are its major concerns

ALCOA of Australia Managing Director Alan Cransberg says the two issues concerning the company the most at the moment are energy security and domestic gas supply in WA and the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS).

Cransberg says Australia must get the balance right between expanding and maximising LNG exports while ensuring the country’s own domestic needs. Energy security and domestic gas supply in WA are critical issues which impact us all — businesses and households.

The mineral processing company has released a short video which explains the company’s position.

Cransberg says the other issue concerning the group is the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS). He says it is now absolutely essential, for industries like mineral processing, that the Government gets the balance right within the CPRS so that businesses can all respond to the challenge of climate change without sacrificing jobs.

Alcoa hopes the Government and Opposition can work cooperatively to achieve this when the CPRS legislation is reintroduced into parliament.
