Fatality forces closure of SA gold/copper mine

THE death of a contractor at an Oz Minerals gold and copper mine has forced operations to be shut down.

The worker died in a light vehicle accident about 35km from South Australia’s Prominent Hill mine site.

According to the company, Worksafe SA has been notified and is joining with police to investigate the accident.

The mine was shut down for half a day to honour the worker. Management is conducting further investigations.
