BOYNE Smelters has received a second extension from the Department of Environment and Resource Management to carry out air monitoring and emissions analysis from the Rio Tinto operation.
The aluminium smelter says the $4.2 million report had involved 16 people, taken 970 samples and carried out 2200 analyses since work began in 2008.
Boyne Smelters claims the report will be one of the most comprehensive reports delivered for any smelter anywhere in the world.
The Department it is very disappointed that the smelter would again be unable to provide the full environmental report by the due date.
The deadline has been increased form 30 March 2009 to 29 May 2009.
