RIO Tinto has terminated its contact with Thomas and Coffey over a management dispute between the company and Boyne Smelters Limited.

The team was working on the crane rails of one of its reduction lines. The group says it is currently in the process of finding another contractor to do the work.

Some of the Thomas and Coffey employees were placed with other contractors and all others had been invited to register their interest to be employed with the new contractor when appointed.

Thomas and Coffey says it is unable to comment because the issue is commercially confidential.
