Victorian gold sale comes as surprise

REX MINERALS has sold its Victorian gold mining operations in a surprise sale to an anonymous buyer.

The miner sold exploration licences and assets for its gold mining projects at St Arnaud and Creswick North for a reported $1.5m.

Rex Minerals spokesman, Steve Olsen, says the company had not been looking to offload the operations and the sale was “out of the blue”.

The company says it was taking advantage of an unexpected offer while the price of gold is still low.
